Einstein and the reality of space: realism and conventionalism
Main Article Content
In this paper I expose a philosophical reflection about two issues that are closely related: the first one, the ontological implications on the physical reality of space-time and, the second one, the relation between theory and experience, both of them in the context of Einstein’s special and general theory of relativity. So I have him two aims. First, I explain the realism and conventionalism debate concerning the physical reality of space-time and, second, I consider the physics theory-reality relationship. I examine these questions taking into account the Newton/Leibniz discussion on reality of the absolute space and the absolute time, and then from the relativistic view-point.
