The essay shows the importance of Kant’s Transcendental Schematism for the program of “Being and Time”. The line of the argument is the following. The question of the meaning of Being asks for Being in its giveness as meaning. Time, as meaning of Being, is the dynamic of the formation of meaning (Sinnbildung). The paper explains how Heidegger finds, in Kant’s theory on the Transcendental Schemata and the Transcendental Imagination, the determinant elements to develop the ontological function of time as the formation and configuration of meaning.
