In this paper an exposition of the role within the proposed analysis of the company making the philosopher Herbert Marcuse, the idea of surplus repression or repression in contemporary societies is made. For this exhibition will be taken as basic references analyzes provided by two works by the author: Eros and Civilization and An Essay on Liberation. Although these are the foundation works in which the arguments provided by the author towards the subject, at times be crawled it will go to other texts Marcuse in which their approaches are confirmed and some analysis by scholars of his thinking will be taken.
