The Prudential Guidelines of Care and Respect in the Theory of Alfonso Gómez-Lobo: Relations between Affirmative and Negative Norms, Action and Omission, Principles of Beneficence and Nonmaleficence

This paper deals with the presentation of the theory of the new natural law, in the development of the Chilean philosopher Alfonso Gómez-Lobo. In particular, it deals with the direct reference of this author, in the characterization of prudential guidelines of care and respect. In it, the author indicates that these prudential guidelines would be equivalent to affirmative and negative norms, to the norms that oblige action and omission, and to the principles of beneficence and nonmaleficence, respectively. The objective of this paper is to understand if the relationship between the guidelines of care and respect is effective or not, with the norms indicated above.
