Abstract

For those interested in receiving systems of thought, they cannot help but be amazed at the fate of the Political Treaty in the course of history. While the Theological-Political Treaty was very quickly translated into French, English and Dutch, and circulated under the table after its prohibition in 1674, "the Political Treaty remains absolutely unknown" before the revolution in France, if Paul Vernière is believed, and barely elicited comment after that time.
