Women and gender equality in government programs in the city of Cali: A look from the political impact of women and regulatory development between 1995 and 2019

Abstract

With the objective of knowing the political advocacy processes carried out by women in Santiago de Cali from 1995 to 2019 and the inclusion of these in the government programs of the mayoral candidates in the same period, the document collects an important fabric that women in the city of Cali have led, being pioneers in political advocacy processes in the country, and analyzes whether these efforts have been included within the programmatic component of the candidates for mayor of this same city. This document contains specific addressing; the first part develops the elements, objectives and conceptual framework on which this writing is based; secondly, the political advocacy processes carried out by women in Santiago de Cali from 1995 to 2019 are described, obtained from the stories of some women participating in the different political advocacy actions; subsequently, an approach is made to the speech of the mayoral candidates recorded in the government programs from the years 1995 to 2019, in light of the advocacy processes carried out by women in Santiago de Cali. Finally, the conclusions are presented, and strategies on competencies, responsibilities and processes are proposed, which seek to contribute to the design of a route to follow.
